What We Do

Baileys sells tropical fish, goldfish, and other aquatic items to retailers, such as pet stores and pet departments of larger stores, who then resell the items to the public.
We also provide advice, information, and training about caring for the items that we sell to our customers.

Bailey's new sign in about 1976 with Nevin and his mother, Faye, in a long red sweater.

A picture taken long ago showing Nevin on the left, his mother, Faye, wearing a red sweater, standing on the right with two of her friends, Clara and Audrey, in between.

The ladies stopped to see the new sign, "Baileys Wholesale Tropical Fish".

We made the sign ourselves, and it never looked quite right. But the fish inside in the aquariums were great then and still are today.

The front door to Baileys photographed in June 2009, our 33rd year here. For a long time the building was tan but was repainted with this brownish-orange.

We painted a new sign, which looks more professional. The door on the right is open and you can see the gray colored front counter.

The front counter with a small room straight ahead and a bigger office through the door on the left.

A view inside the small room, which has been pretty much the same for many years.

Inside the big office, where several people work at the same time.

Inside the fish room with hundreds of aquariums. On the left is the stairs that goes upstairs to the second level of aquariums. In the middle of the picture is the bagging table.

A view from the other side of the bagging table. On the right is a special tool that dispenses metal bands to seal fish bags.

We've always kept our facilities clean and well organized.

A view of the Z-aisle. Notice the orange plastic aquariums.

The rack made of white PVC pipe contains sweater boxes with critters such as frogs.

At the top of this picture you can see orange plastic aquariums on the second level, and way at the top are some very old metal aquariums.

Here are orange aquariums on the top row and white aquariums on the middle and bottom rows. The trough way at the bottom is full of freshwater crabs.

Here's the main guy, Nevin Bailey, Manager and Co-Owner for more than 45-years, pointing to the new denitrifier that he recently installed. On the left is a commercial bio-wheel filter.

Here's another denitrifier placed inside a large aquarium.

Here is one of many big stands of aquariums in Baileys. The aquariums are made of plastic with a panel of glass in the front.

They are now more than 40-years old and still work as well as ever.

The large white aquarium stands are properly made with shear panels in two directions and strong cables supporting the third direction.

Each stand has lighting, air, water, uv-sterilizer, and everything else needed to support the fish.

It's been a fascinating experience to design, build, and then constantly enhance these stands and aquariums.

Tom said, "After I looked at the pictures on this page, I realized that Nevin had built almost everything in every picture.

"To be completely fair, he often had help from one or more younger guys working for Baileys, but by and large Nevin built almost all of it, and I don't know of any other such fish system that works as well as this one.

"Nevin deserves a lot of credit for our outstanding success over a long period of time."
